For this module’s discussion 6 we will explore the outer solar system and look at the giant Jovian planets and their moons. As always your discussion post can extend on any of the LO’s… bring in interesting science and discoveries, or you can respond to any of these prompts:

• Are Jupiter like planets rare or common? Support your argument with evidence of extrasolar planets and solar systems.
• What is your favorite Jovian moon and why? Use details about your moon to convince and teach others about it!
• What is the sun’s solar cycle doing now and what are the chances to see the aurora now on Earth an on Jupiter?
• Why do the Jovian Planets have rings while the terrestrial planets don’t have them? Could the Earth ever have a ring?
• Why should we visit Europa? See the video in the resources below.
• What would it be like to live on Saturn’s moon, Titan?
• Is there any other moon in the Jovian system that could be colonized

Include in your Journal/ discussion the following.

• Part 1. What’s up in the Sky? Moon phases and planets visible… include unusual events like comets or meteor showers. (4 points) reflect on what you saw, or didn’t see due to weather that is up in the sky this module.
• Part 2. Optional images, photos, sketches
• Part 3. Cover the Learning Objectives. Expound upon a minimum of four Learning Objectives for the module. This is the place to help you learn by taking notes, putting links to web pages, and writing in your words your personal understanding is of the material. This section helps you prepare for the quiz and is the heart of the class. Do not skimp on this. Remember all of the learning objectives will be on the quiz, so it is to your advantage to have more than four Learning objectives covered here. (8 points)
• Part 4. Reflect upon at least four Learning Objectives….. Process your notes so you learn. Write out in paragraphs details and what you thought about the learning objective. Put the most interesting or what is the most confusing to give you a way to really learn the material. You chose what is important to reflect upon and to put into your brain and your journal.
